West Ham United have confirmed that Alou Diarra has joined Rennes on loan until the end of the season.

Diarra, 31, joined West Ham from Marseille for £2 million last summer but has made just one Premier League start for the Londoners.

The Frenchman recently said he had "wasted his time" at Upton Park and has now sealed a temporary exit.

Mohamed Diame is another Hammers midfielder to be linked with a move away from East London, with reports suggesting his release clause had been met by an unnamed club.
