Benfica have received no offers for midfielder Nicolas Gaitan and the player is happy to stay at the club, according to his representative.

Gaitan, 23, was strongly linked with a move to Manchester United last summer and despite the Red Devils' signing of Shinji Kagawa, speculation has continued that he will end up at Old Trafford.

However, the Argentina international's representative Jose Iribarren has revealed that there have been no bids tabled by United or any other club for Gaitan, though he did not rule out a move should an offer emerge.

"If there is a proposal, we can sit down and analyse it. But Gaitan is very happy at Benfica, with the direction of the club and with his team-mates," Iribarren is quoted as saying in A Bola.

"If a good opportunity arises for everyone, then great. But again, he is happy at Benfica. I know there are many clubs who want Gaitan, but we have not received any concrete proposal."

Gaitan hit the headlines again on Sunday, scoring an audacious backheeled goal in Benfica's 3-1 Liga victory over Estoril.
