Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has signed for Charlton Athletic on loan until January 1.

Frimpong, 20, has been limited to just two Arsenal appearances this season - both coming in the Capital One Cup - since recovering from a knee injury in September that had sidelined him for seven months.

The Gunners youth product picked up the injury while on loan at Wolves last season, where he had been progressing well and winning many plaudits for his performances.

He is now having to effectively start again to help rebuild his Arsenal career, with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin all ahead of him in Arsene Wenger's plans.

Frimpong joins a Charlton side that are currently 14th in the Championship after gaining promotion from League One last season.

Only last week did the player commit his future to the Gunners, following incorrect rumours that his contract was set to expire at the end of the season.
