A Chelsea supporter has been arrested over an alleged 'monkey gesture' during the Stamford Bridge clash with Manchester United last week.

The fan was caught on camera making the alleged gesture in Wednesday's fourth-round Capital One Cup tie at Stamford Bridge and the Blues launched an investigation, while the Met Police also confirmed they would probe the incident.

On Monday, a 28-year-old man was arrested by police and charged with a racially aggravated offence.

"Officers investigating a complaint regarding alleged racist behaviour at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, October 31 have arrested a man," London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

"The 28-year-old man was arrested... after attending a west London police station by appointment. He was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated Section 4A Public Order Act offence and currently remains in custody at the west London police station."
