Marseille boss Elie Baup insists Loic Remy will not be moving to the Premier League in January, despite reported interest from Chelsea and Tottenham.

Remy was heavily linked with a move to England last summer after starring in Ligue 1. The 25-year-old scored 20 goals in all competitions last term to attract the attention of Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Di Matteo.

It is expected that Spurs will wade into the transfer market during the winter, with Emmanuel Adebayor heading to the African Nations Cup with Togo. However, Baup believes Remy is too important to Marseille's cause for the club to let the striker depart midway through the season.

"In my opinion, there is no question [of a sale]," said Baup. "He is here for the whole season.

"The club have always counted on him. Unfortunately, he suffered several small physical problems, but the troubles are behind him. A lot of things are happening at the moment and his form is vital for our results, which are more important."

Remy was forced to withdraw from France's Euro 2012 squad due to a thigh injury which has hampered his progress throughout the current season.
