Arsenal goalkeeper Damian Martinez has told Arsene Wenger he is ready and waiting for his Premier League chance.

Martinez, 20, made his Gunners bow in the 6-1 Capital One Cup win against Coventry last week and with Vito Mannone currently deputising for the injured Wojciech Szczesny, there is competition for places between the sticks at Emirates Stadium.

The Argentina Under-20 international has also been an unused substitute in three league games this season but he is certain he can do much more if called upon.

"I am working for that [chance]. They played me and I responded well, so they know they can rely on me," he told Argentinian newspaper Ole.

"Arsene is very professional, and is very helpful. He treats the best player and the 17-year-old lad the same way. And he has the same demands. And if he has to play the kid that is better than the veteran, he will."

Martinez also revealed he hopes to fulfil his international ambitions at Arsenal, claiming Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella will be aware of his progress.

He added: "I know that, being in the Premier League, one day, Sabella is going to look at me."
