Gareth Bale is confident he will be fit for Tottenham's Premier League opener against Newcastle.

Bale hobbled off during Wales' defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina on Wednesday, prompting fears he had suffered a recurrence of the injury that had forced him out of the Olympics.

However, Bale has reassured Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas that the injury is not serious.

"It was a bit sore when I landed on it, but it wasn't too bad," Bale said. "I will be fine and I just have to get myself ready for the weekend."
