Fulham forward Moussa Dembele has claimed that Real Madrid have made an inquiry about him.

Dembele, 25, has been linked with a move away from Fulham this summer, with Manchester United said to be monitoring the regarding the Belgium international's situation.

But, with Real Madrid struggling to agree a fee with Tottenham for Luka Modric, it appears Dembele is a target for the Liga side.

"My manager has already talked with Real," Dembele told Het Nieuwsblad. "There have been contacts between my agent and Real Madrid. They have wanted information and that was it.

"I cannot say much else about it - everything is calm, but I cannot say where I will be playing."

Dembele was deployed in a deeper midfield role as the 2011-12 season progressed, and the Belgian admits he enjoyed the tactical shift.

He added: "I feel more of a midfielder than striker. It is even my favourite position."
