Crouch urges Owen to choose Stoke
Peter Crouch has called on Michael Owen to head to Stoke in a bid to revive his career following his release from Manchester United.
In Liverpool, Real Madrid and United, Owen has played for some of the biggest clubs in world football - but his career has been spiralling down for a number of years.
United released the forward this summer following an injury-ravaged spell at Old Trafford. Owen claims to have a host of offers to chew over, but he has still to find a new home.
Stoke have been strongly linked and Potters striker Crouch wants to renew his partnership with the former England international.
Crouch said: "I know Michael has a big decision to make after leaving a club the size of Manchester United - but I had a similar decision to make last summer.
"At Tottenham we were challenging for a Champions League place every season. We're not doing that at Stoke but we are building something worthwhile here.
"If you want to play regular football and enjoy playing again, this is a great place to be.
"Michael will obviously make his own decision but a player of that calibre would be fantastic to have around the place."
Crouch feels Owen would be wrong to look at Stoke as a step down the football ladder.
He said: "Coming to Stoke was never a step down. I was really happy the manager could give me games when I was in and out of the Tottenham side.
"I'd rather play a big part in something smaller than be a small part of something bigger."
