FC Twente chairman Joop Munsterman is unclear as to whether Douglas wants to move to Newcastle United.

Newcastle have reportedly held talks over Douglas, a 24-year-old defender, although Douglas recently claimed: "I and my agent know nothing of a bid from Newcastle. I want to stay at Twente this season."

Nonetheless, it appears talks are planned in the near future, with reports claiming the player's representatives are due to fly over from Brazil, and Munsterman is confused by the matter.

"It's unclear precisely what Newcastle and Douglas want," he said. "One week he calls me and tells me he wants to leave and the next week he calls me and tells me he wants to stay."

Fulham and West Ham have also been linked with the player, who is reportedly valued at around €3 million.
