Mario Balotelli has done his utmost to quash any speculation that he may leave Manchester City over the summer, by stating his happiness at the club and that he knows nothing of a rumoured move to AC Milan.

The striker has been linked with an exit from Eastlands, with Milan - a club he has professed his admiration for - touted as a likely destination.

However, the 21-year-old was forthright in his opinion when he told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I play at Manchester City, I am happy at Manchester City and I will remain there."

When asked about Milan, he replied: "No, not now, not at this time. I've already said I want to stay in Manchester and I will."

Balotelli also offered his assessment of how things had gone with title-winning City. "This year we were the strongest team and we deserved to win," he said. "As for my season with City? It was sufficient. I am young and it's normal there will be ups and downs, but I hope to do better with the national team."

The Italian also commented on the frequent media coverage of his reported off-pitch antics. "With regards to the psychological aspect I don't pay attention because I am fed up with what everyone says," he said.

"I just have to improve tactically, mature and score always. In England they tend to exaggerate what I do off the pitch, but those that love me know what I am really like. I'm just sorry for my mother because certain stories might upset her."

Balotelli is targeting this summer's European Championship with Italy as an opportunity to make the headlines for his talent. "This tournament could be the opportunity of my life, but I don't feel an added responsibility," he stated.

"I want to be a winner and give the fans the same joy. I am really enthusiastic - the European Championship is very important for me."
