Scott Parker has taken the first steps to ending lingering doubts about his fitness for the European Championships by training with England.

Roy Hodgson's squad for Euro 2012 gathered for the first time on Wednesday ahead of the first warm-up game in Norway on Saturday evening.

Parker has been troubled by an Achilles problem for over a month. He came off the bench to play the last two minutes of the 1-1 draw at Aston Villa on May 6, his only appearance in the past month.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp had questioned whether Parker would be able to recover in time for the Finals, but his appearance at training will boost hopes of a full and quick recovery.

The only two players who did not take part in training were Liverpool defender Glen Johnson and Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck who sat it out on the sidelines as a precautionary measure.
