Tottenham attacker Rafael van der Vaart has revealed he does not expect to finish his career at the north London club.

Van der Vaart, 29, has two years remaining on his current deal at White Hart Lane, having joined the club from Real Madrid in 2010.

A Netherlands international, Van der Vaart has decided that he wants to bring the curtain down on his playing career in his own domestic league.

"I see it as an obligation to play football once again in the Netherlands," Van der Vaart told Voetbal International. "I have a feeling I have to give something back to the Eredivisie, for what it has meant to me."

Having started his career at Ajax, Van der Vaart last played in the Dutch league in 2005 - before leaving for Hamburg of the Bundesliga.

He has played 28 league games for Tottenham this season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists.
