Wenger rules out rapid Wilshere return
Arsenal fans are not going to see Jack Wilshere in action before February, manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
Wilshere has not been seen in action this season after picking up a foot injury in the summer that required surgery.
The midfielder said earlier in the month that he was happy with his progress and revealed he was all set to step up his rehabilitation.
But any prospect of a rapid return to action has been scotched by Wenger who said: "He will not be available before the end of January."
Wilshere has made waves on Twitter by revealing he will donate £3000 to charity if Arsenal finish behind north London rivals Tottenham in the Premier League. Wenger has no issues with the youngster's musings and is hopeful the teenager will not have to dip his hand in his pocket.
Wenger said: "He made a contest. The good thing is a charity will get some money. If we finish above Tottenham he said the Tottenham supporters have to spend £1 each, so because they have many I hope the charity gets a lot of money!
"I hope Wilshere won't pay anything! We are ready for a challenge, and hopefully the charity will get some money - but not from us!"
