Danny Simpson has placed a cloud over his future by claiming he could be heading for the exit door at Newcastle United.

Simpson has been a solid performer for the Magpies but has a little over 18 months remaining on his commitment and is unsure about whether he will be offered fresh terms.

The 24-year-old full back admitted as such during a court case for a speeding charge - stating he needed his licence to meet prospective new clubs.

"There's a chance I will be moving, whether in the transfer window or in the summer," Simpson is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror. "I have 18 months left on my contract and I don't think it'll go past that."
