Sevilla have announced that their former head coach Eduardo Berizzo is recovering after treatment for prostate cancer.
Berizzo lost his job at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium three days before Christmas -- almost a month after undergoing surgery.
The La Liga club had a positive update about the 48-year-old Argentinian on Sunday.
They tweeted: "We have good news. Sources close to Eduardo Berizzo tell us he is recovering well from prostate cancer through continued treatment. Everyone at SevillaFC is truly delighted with his progress and want to pass on the best wishes for the future."
Berizzo led Sevilla to fifth place in La Liga and into the Champions League knockout stages, where they will play Manchester United later this month, before being dismissed for what the club called a "bad run."
