Colombian team don replica shirts

Colombian side Independiente Santa Fe had to play a match wearing counterfeit replica versions of their shirts when they forgot to bring their away strip to Boyaca Chirco.

Officials rushed out to buy the shirts from street traders around the stadium after Boyaca Chico refused to switch to their reserve shirts to prevent a clash of colours.

Santa Fe, based in Bogota, began the match wearing their grey training kits, adding numbers to the shirts using surgical tape.

When the countrerfeit replica shirts had been bought and names and numbers written onto them in marker pen, the players changed into them.

Spokesman Pablo Garcia said their opponents’ refusal to agree to wear their away strip had left Santa Fe doubly satisfied by their eventual 2-0 win.

"We're happy because Chico wouldn't help resolve the problem and tried to gain an advantage in the situation," he told Reuters.
