Norway go top of Group H behind Jo Inge Berget goals

Jo Inge Berget produced a match-winning performance for Norway, who went top of Euro 2016 qualifying Group H with a 2-0 home win over Croatia.

Both goals came in the second half, as former Celtic man Berget scored on 51 minutes and then prodded home off Croatian Vedran Corluka.

Croatia had been limited in their chances while goalkeepers Orjan Nyland and Danijel Subasic were kept busy in the first half, but Norway eventually got their fifth win of the campaign.

Croatia remain second, with third-placed Italy taking on Bulgaria in the late evening kick-off.

Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic had looked dangerous for Croatia at the start of the match, Nyland making a comfortable save from the former's shot from 25 yards.

But it was Subasic who had to be more alert at the other end, parrying when Vegard Forren fired from close range.

Mandzukic produced the acrobatics with an overhead kick on 48 minutes, which Nyland saved, and Berget then made Croatia pay.

He cropped up at the far post and then lay waste to captain Darijo Srna in the box with a drag back, leaving himself a simple finish past Subasic.

Brozovic had an effort blocked out for Croatia, before Berget doubled the advantage for the visitors, his shot from the left going in off Corluka.

Mandzukic then missed with a shot from inside the box, while Norway had the chance to add a third when Berget picked up from a Croatian error and played Markus Henriksen in, but the final shot was blocked by Domagoj Vida.

Norway were content to see out the game from then on, and ensure the win, with their next opponents being Malta before they travel to Italy.
