Perisic's move to Man United depends on Champions League qualification

The January window might have just shut, but Transfer Talk still has the updates on all the latest rumours and done deals.

United remain hopeful of Perisic switch

Manchester United have long been linked with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, and the Mirror reports that they have not given up on signing him.

Despite Jose Mourinho's insistence that they will not be buying attackers in the summer, it says United are still keen to bring Perisic to Old Trafford -- but only if Inter do not qualify for next season's Champions League.

The Serie A side currently hold the final league qualifying spot, and their ability to stay there appears to hold the key to the Croatia international.

The Mirror says "Old Trafford chiefs hope a season in the Europa League, or without any European competition at all, may persuade Inter to part with their prized winger."

That scenario would mean Mourinho "may be tempted to raid his former club with a fresh bid for the Croatia international."

Perisic came close to joining United in the summer, but reports in Italy say qualification for the Champions League would mean he is "likely to prolong his stay in Milan."

Liverpool latest club to be linked with Wilshere

With the Arsenal future of Jack Wilshere remaining uncertain, reports suggest a Premier League midfield merry-go-round could spin into action.

Wilshere, whose deal runs out at the end of the season, is in negotiations over a new one but the Mail says he could turn it down after the club "slashed his wages from £90,000-a-week."

It adds that although Wilshere has been linked with everyone from Manchester City to Marseille, Liverpool are set to step in if he calls time on his days in North London.

The Sun reports that Jurgen Klopp would be "ready to match Wilshere's current salary" if he can bring him to Anfield on a free.

Both reports suggest Liverpool view the Arsenal midfielder as a replacement for Emre Can, heavily tipped to join Juventus.

Leicester eye Thorgan Hazard as Mahrez replacement

With reports indicating that it will soon be Arsenal versus Manchester City in a race for Leicester's Riyad Mahrez, the Foxes are going to need a replacement playmaker.

And the Sun tells usThorgan Hazard, brother of Chelsea star Eden, is in their sights as they prepare for the departure of the Algeria international.

Citing reports in Germany, it says the ex-Chelsea midfielder, who can operate on the left or centrally, "is high on Leicester's list."

And although the Blues have first option to sign him if he leaves the Bundesliga -- where he has played since 2015 -- they "don't look that interested," and Leicester are ready to pounce.

- Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has regularly voiced frustration at a lack of transfer-market movement -- and the Guardian reports that he "intends to initiate an internal inquiry into the deficiencies that undermined January activity at the club."

It says that although Benitez ended up making three loan signings, "much hard work appeared to have been wasted," with assessments having been carried out "on 50 attacking targets alone."

- The London Evening Standard reports that West Ham striker Javier Hernandez, has pledged "100 percent dedication" to the club despite having "angled for a move away in January."
