BAKU, Azerbaijan -- GP2 qualifying on the Baku City Circuit has been postponed after concerns were raised about the kerbs at certain sections of the track.
The session was meant to be held after F1's first practice session but was red flagged after just one minute to allow a track inspection at Turns 2 and 3. After race director Charlie Whiting arrived at the scene and assessed the kerbs it was decided that the GP2 session should be postponed until after F1's second practice session to allow further work on the kerbs to take place.
Concerns were raised after reports of damage to tyres following FP1. The kerbs are all temporary and attention was focused on the bolts used to keep the kerbs in place as well as the gaps between the sections.
Repairs are ongoing ahead of FP2, which is due to start at 17:00 local time.
