Bernie Ecclestone has granted Lewis Hamilton's dog a paddock pass so that it can travel with the Mercedes driver to races.

Hamilton has been tweeting pictures of his new dog, Roscoe, throughout pre-season testing as the English Bulldog has accompanied him to the circuit. Roscoe has his own passport and on Saturday Hamilton confirmed his pet now had his very own paddock pass too.

"Bernie was kind enough to allow him to have one," he said. "I've just got to get a picture of him..."

At the first test, Hamilton explained his lifelong love for dogs.

"He's my new best buddy," he said. "I've always wanted a dog and I grew up with dogs when I was really young, I had Labradors. My mum has five dogs and my dad has a dog as well and I've always wanted one myself but I've never really had the opportunity."
