Ennis out of World Trials

World heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis will not compete at the World Indoor trials and UK Championships in front of her home crowd in Sheffield after withdrawing from the event with a foot injury.
Ennis, who set a new British record in the 60m hurdles in Glasgow last month, injured her foot and an MRI scan has shown a slight ligament strain.
"After competing in Glasgow last week and a pretty intense training week, I felt a slight niggle in my foot - like a muscle knot," said Ennis.
"As a precautionary measure I am going to have to rest it in the short-term to ensure the quickest recovery. This means me missing the trials this weekend in front of my home crowd - I am truly devastated."
However, Ennis is confident her injury will not be a long term setback and she will still compete at the World Indoor Championships in Doha next month.
