Thomas Muller has been told that he must hand in a transfer request if he wants to leave Bayern Munich.

German tabloid Bild had suggested last week that the Germany international was open to reuniting with Louis van Gaal - who gave Muller his debut at Bayern - should the Dutchman take over at Manchester United.

And Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has suggested he would consider selling Muller - but he must demand it.

"Muller's situation? If a player does not feel well at Bayern Munich, he should come to my office," Rummenigge was quoted as saying by Bild.

"We will have to talk about things like that."

Muller, 24, who has scored 13 goals in 30 Bundesliga appearances this season, is contracted to the German champions until 2017.
