Spurs face Anzhi, Swansea draw ValenciaESPN staff August 30, 2013 « Live County Championship coverage | #TransferDeadlineDay »
Tottenham have been drawn against Anzhi Makhachkala and Swansea City will face Valencia in the Europa League group stage.
Spurs - who reached last season's quarter-final stage where they lost out to Basel - will also face Sheriff Tiraspol of Moldova and Tromso of Norway in Group K.
Andre Villas-Boas is preparing for life without star player Gareth Bale - who is expected to join Real Madrid for a world-record transfer fee before the end of the summer transfer window - but his side will still be seen as one of the favourites to lift the trophy won by Chelsea last season after entering the draw as one of the top seeds.
Valencia and Swansea are joined in Group A by Russia's Kuban Krasnodar and St Gallen of Switzerland. The trip to Valencia will see Swansea's Pablo Hernandez return to his former club. Manager Michael Laudrup - who led the Swans into Europe via their Capital One Cup triumph last term - and several of his other players will also be familiar to Spanish football fans.
Group D contains FA Cup winners Wigan Athletic - since relegated to the Championship - along with Rubin Kazan, Maribor and Zulte Waregem.
In Group H, Sevilla - who enjoyed back-to-back triumphs in the Europa League's forerunner, the UEFA Cup, in 2006 and 2007 - take on Bundesliga side Freiburg plus Estoril and Liberec of Portugal and the Czech Republic respectively.
French side Lyon, beaten by Real Sociedad in the Champions League play-off, take on another Spanish side, Real Betis, in Group I, along with Portugal's Vitoria de Guimaraes and Croatia's Rijeka.
