Brazil's problems ahead of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics continue to mount, the latest set-back coming with news that the drug-testing laboratory in Rio de Janeiro, which would handle both events, has had its accreditation revoked by the World Anti-Doping Agency.

Action was taken after the laboratory repeatedly failed "to comply with the necessary standards".

The lab was originally suspended in January 2012 for nine months for similar reasons and was reinstated after a site visit in September. However, there have been further problems leading to the latest action.

Although the lab can appeal against the decision, its previous record would seem to count against it.
