Roma have completed the signing of Maicon from Manchester City.

The Brazil international right-back, who was not in new manager Manuel Pellegrini's plans for the forthcoming season, leaves the Etihad Stadium after less than 11 months.

While City have yet to confirm Maicon's departure, Roma posted a picture of the 31-year-old on their official Twitter page with the message: "Welcome aboard, Maicon!".

The Serie A club have reportedly paid £3 million for the former Internazionale player, who won the Scudetto four times in his time at the San Siro.

Maicon, who was signed on transfer deadline day last August, had also played for former City manager Roberto Mancini at Inter.

But he only started four league games and made just 11 appearances in total during an injury-hit season when another right-back, Pablo Zabaleta, became the automatic choice and was voted City's player of the year.

The former Champions League winner had former part of Mancini's plan to give City a different tactical approach by fielding a back three and wing-backs at times.

However, Pellegrini is likely to play a 4-3-3 formation and chose not to take Maicon on City's pre-season tour of South Africa.
