Dana White is ready to give Antonio Silva a second shot at Cain Velasquez following his brutal victory over Alistair Overeem at UFC 156.

Overeem was believed to be next in line to take on heavyweight champion Velasquez, but his knockout by Silva has thrown those plans up in the air.

Silva suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Velasquez in May 2012, but the manner of Silva's victory over Overeem has given UFC president White hope that he could make a better fist of a rematch.

"(Silva) and Cain Velasquez had just fought recently but I'm telling you, the way he looked in this fight against Alistair, maybe we do that fight again," White said.

"I wouldn't be opposed to that."
