Kal Yafai continued his rise up the bantamweight scene with a workmanlike victory over Gonzalo Garcia.

Former top amateur Yafai has been tipped for the top and he secured his seventh win on the spin since turning pro.

Yafai made a circumspect start, but was soon into his work and happy to walk forward against his Mexican opponent.

Garcia, a winner of eight fights, absorbed plenty of Yafai's power but he offered little by way of an attacking threat.

It took Yafai some time to get through his opponent, but he began to enjoy success in the fourth round. He landed some fierce shots and at the end of the round, Garcia's camp elected to pull their man out of the fight.

"It was average, I felt a bit sloppy at times," Yafai told Sky Sports. "I have not had the best of camps for this fight, it was hard trying to get back into sparring after my injured knuckle.

"I got through it, but once I lifted the pace I got him out of there. The next fight will be ten times better than that.

"I need to work on my defence a bit more, working behind my jab."
