Rafael Nadal has turned his attentions to preparing for the 2013 season after signing up for an exhibition event in Abu Dhabi at the end of December.

Nadal, who has not played since his shock defeat to Lukas Rosol at Wimbledon in June, is yet to put a date on his comeback and admitted to ESPN last month that he may not return before the end of the season.

But the world No. 4, who was forced to withdraw from the US Open after missing the defence of his Olympic title, is set to join Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray for the three-day Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

David Ferrer, Tomas Berdych and Janko Tipsarevic complete the six-man line-up for the event, which begins on December 27.
