Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic is set to make his long-awaited comeback from injury during the second-half of the club's pre-season tour when they travel to Scandinavia.

Vidic, 30, has been out of action since suffering a knee injury in December, but should make his return in early August.

The club depart for South Africa next Monday, before continuing their pre-season travels in China. The Red Devils then return to Europe for friendlies with Valerenga and Barcelona, in Norway and Sweden respectively, when Vidic should feature.

Northern Irish defender Jonny Evans impressed in Vidic's absence last season and will resume his partnership with Rio Ferdinand for the start of the club's pre-season campaign.

Vidic's absence arguably had a major effect on the 2011-12 Premier League season, with the Serbian missing the entirety of the season run-in as Manchester United fought with rivals City for the title.
