From top to bottom, New Japan Pro Wrestling's annual Wrestle Kingdom show once again set a lofty bar for the rest of the year to follow. From Kazuchika Okada's continued dominance and unexpected successful IWGP heavyweight title defense, to Alpha vs. Omega, which had fans at the Tokyo Dome losing their minds up until the moment Kenny Omega hit a one-winged angel on Chris Jericho onto a steel chair to win that match, Jan. 4 was a banner day. Hiroshi Tanehashi successfully defended his Intercontinental championship against Jay White, making it a clean sweep for the champs in the final three matches, but the opposite was true early in the card as the other five title matches saw challengers walk away with new titles.
