London Scottish have confirmed the appointment of Mike Friday as their new director of rugby with Peter Richards taking on the role of backs coach.

Friday, who coached both England and Kenya in Sevens, coached the club's backs last season but he has been promoted to director of rugby with James Buckland continuing as head coach. Richards, who won 13 England caps, takes on the backs coach post and joins from London Irish where he worked as a skills coach.

London Scottish chief executive Kenny Baillie said: "I am delighted that Mike Friday will remain with us in his new role as director of rugby and equally thrilled Peter has come on board as backs coach. Mike has greatly impressed the board of directors since he joined us last season and Peter brings to the table a wealth of international experience.

"Both are making a significant impact in pre-season and I genuinely believe that going into the new season we have an incredibly strong backroom team which will get the very best out of this much changed and exciting first team squad."
