Christian Wade has pledged his immediate future to London Wasps after signing a contract extension with the Adams Park outfit.
Wade earned his first England cap this summer and would have undoubtedly been a part of Stuart Lancaster's Six Nations plans but for a recent injury. The 22-year-old has made a name for himself as a clinical finisher in recent years, with dazzling footwork and electric pace to boot.
Last season Wade topped the Aviva Premiership scoring charts with Wasps team-mate Tom Varndell after scoring 13 tries. Despite his injury, Wade has retained his spot in England's EPS announced earlier this month.
But Wade only had a year existing on his current deal and this latest deal is a coup for a club who have not been able to compete with the Premiership's big guns for a few seasons - despite growing promise within the side. And he admits his contract extension is a way of passing on his gratitude to the club he started his career at - especially as he believes Wasps have an exciting few years ahead of them.
"The last few years have been amazing for me. Playing for England is a dream come true and pulling on a Lions jersey in the summer was something that I never expected," Wade said.
"It was Wasps who gave me the platform to go on and do those things and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities they have provided me. Since I first made my debut for the Club, things have changed dramatically and we are now building towards something that we all believe in and want to be part of.
"I'm excited about what the next few years will bring and am delighted to be here for the foreseeable future."
Head coach Dai Young is a firm believer in Wade's talents and is delighted the club has been able to keep him at Wasps for the foreseeable future.
Dai Young said: "Christian is, without doubt, one of the outstanding young talents in the country at this moment in time. He is a young guy with a level head on his shoulders who is always keen to learn and I think that has been obvious in his rapid development in the last few seasons.
"We have got a really good core of young, talented, English players who will form the backbone for this squad moving forward and I am hugely pleased to add Christian's name to that list."
