Sale prepare for cross-code challenge with Reds
ESPN Staff
December 3, 2013

Sale Sharks are believed to be in talks with rugby league side Salford City Reds about a cross-code challenge. The two clubs share the AJ Bell Stadium.

The Rugby Paper reported that a sponsor had been found for the match which would be played using union rules for one half and league rules for the other.

"We're in preliminary talks and there is a will on both sides for this to happen, but no date has been agreed as yet," Salford boss Brian Noble told the paper.

At the moment the problem seems to be finding a date, but a midweek evening in January would appear to be the most likely as the Reds will be back in training for the start of the Super League season in February.

Last month the Manchester Evening News reported that Reds owner Marwan Koukash met with Sale's director of rugby Steve Diamond to discuss proposals and also visited the Sharks' training base.
