The Chiefs hired Deland McCullough off the staff at Southern California on Friday to coach their running backs, taking the place of recently promoted assistant coach Eric Bieniemy.

The Kansas City Chiefs are hiring USC running backs coach Deland McCullough, McCullough confirmed to me tonight. The hire was first reported by USCFootball.com. McCullough thrived both in player development and recruiting for the Trojans after coming to USC from Indiana.

USC coach Clay Helton is a finalist for the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award following the Trojans' 11-3 campaign, which included a Pac-12 title and a trip to the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic. The winner will be announced tonight in Houston.

UCLA's Rosen, USC's Darnold both enter draft

Quarterbacks Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold separately announced they won't be returning to UCLA and USC, respectively, but will both enter the NFL draft.

ESPN 300 defensive back Olaijah Griffin said today he decommitted from UCLA. Griffin says he's visiting USC January 12, and will also visit Michigan, Auburn and possibly Florida or Florida State.

The Pac-12 finished 1-8 in bowl games, which is the worst single-season bowl record in history for a Power 5 conference (minimum five games). The previous worst was the Big Ten in 2008, which went 1-6, according to ESPN Stats and Information. Utah, which beat West Virginia 30-14, was the only school to register a win.
