Wake Forest survives to beat Tulane 23-17 in OT

Wake Forest freshman Sam Hartman passed for 378 yards and two touchdowns in his collegiate debut, Cade Carney powered in for a short TD in overtime, and the Demon Deacons defeated Tulane 23-17 on Thursday night.

Tulane honors paralyzed Walker by retiring No. 18

Despite being paralyzed during a 2012 game, Devon Walker has remained a big part of Tulane's football program. On Thursday, the school retired his No. 18 across its entire athletic program.

Hearing Tulane defensive line coach Kevin Peoples is in the mix for Alabama's defensive line vacancy. Peoples has been with Willie Fritz at both Tulane and Georgia Southern. He has SEC experience as Arkansas' defensive line coach under Bobby Petrino.

Oklahoma State's ongoing search for a defensive coordinator has included talks with six candidates, including Tulane defensive coordinator Jack Curtis, South Carolina assistant head coach Lance Thompson, Duke defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and Troy defensive coordinator Vic Koenning, according to sources. Two additional candidates are in play, as well, including a name from the FCS.
