Ehlinger leads Texas to grinding win over Tulsa 28-21

Sam Ehlinger ran for a touchdown and passed for another in the first half, then threw the game-clinching touchdown in the fourth quarter as Texas slugged its way to a 28-21 win over Tulsa in the Longhorns' home opener Saturday night.

Tulsa has had four drives end inside the Texas 26-yard line. None has resulted in points. The Longhorns defense definitely came to play tonight, helping the team overcome concerning mistakes on offense and special teams. Texas needs to find more rhythm on offense before facing a strong USC defense next week.

Texas needs no Steinbeck inspiration tonight. The Longhorns completely dominated the first quarter, leading Tulsa in points (14-0) and yards (168-56) and forcing two turnovers. Other than a failed opportunities near the goal line, Texas has looked crisp and productive on both sides of the ball.
