To make up for a football game that was supposed to be played this season but was canceled, Nebraska will host Akron in 2025, paying the Zips $1.45 million on top of another $650,000.

Nebraska announces that it will pay Akron $650K for the cancelled game in Week 1 of this year. The original agreement called for a payout of $1.17 million if the game was played. Also, the Huskers and Zips will play in Lincoln on Sept. 6, 2025. Hope for nice weather.

Chattanooga Mocs coach Tom Arth is being hired by Akron to replace Terry Bowden, who was fired after the season.
Akron has fired head coach Terry Bowden after seven seasons.
South Carolina will play Akron at home on Dec. 1 to make up for its September contest canceled due to Hurricane Florence.
Nebraska has added a home game against FCS-level Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 27, making up for the Cornhuskers' Sept. 1 date against Akron that was cancelled because of severe weather in Lincoln.
