RICHMOND, Ky. -- KD Humphries threw for 338 yards and three third-quarter touchdowns as Murray State raced past Eastern Kentucky in the second half to post a 41-28 victory.
Freshman James Smith Jr. scrambled 33 yards for a touchdown and Nigel Bethel added a two-point conversion to get the Colonels off to a fast start and Ethan Thomas added a six-yard scoring run and Lucas Williams kicked a 21-yard field goal as Eastern Kentucky (2-7, 1-5) took an 18-7 lead at intermission and pushed it to 20-7 when Humphries was sacked in the end zone for a safety 32 seconds into the third quarter.
Humphries rallied the Racers (4-5, 4-2 Ohio Valley Conference) with a pair of touchdown passes to Jordan Gandy just minutes apart, the first from 9-yards out, the second a 74-yard bomb. A minute later he found Jonathan Moss from 10-yards out to make it 28-20.
