'Khan doesn't deserve Mayweather fight, but is bigger opponent'
Roger Mayweather, the uncle and trainer of Floyd Mayweather Jr, believes that Amir Khan does not deserve to fight the American, but feels he is a better opponent than Marcos Maidana because of his appeal to global audiences.
With an unbeaten career record of 45 wins, Mayweather Jr's next opponent has yet to be named. Khan and Manny Pacquiao have been the potential fighters listed, but with Pacquiao confirming there were no negotiations for a bout against Mayweather Jr, it appears that Khan is edging closer to a tussle with the WBC and WBA light-middleweight champion.
And Mayweather Jr's uncle and trainer believes Khan would be the ideal opponent for his nephew.
"I think Amir Khan is a bigger fight," he told Hustleboss, and asked whether the Briton deserves a fight with Mayweather Jr, he added: "Not really, not really but he's the only guy who really has a name where you could put it on [broadcasting network Showtime]. For the networks, you need to have a guy who could [produce], in order to get the television (viewers) to watch it."
Mayweather last entered the ring on September 14 against Saul Alvarez, while Khan got the better of Julio Diaz on April 27.
