Unbeaten super-middleweight George Groves has hinted that he could be in line for a potential world title bout with either Carl Froch or Mikkel Kessler.

Froch meets Kessler in a rematch unification bout for the IBF and WBA super-middleweight titles at the O2 Arena in London on May 25, and 25-year-old Groves has stated that his sights are firmly set on working towards a "huge" world title fight.

Groves, undefeated in 18 professional bouts, will face Noe Gonzalez Alcoba for the vacant WBA Inter-continental super-middleweight belt on the undercard of Froch/Kessler.

The Hammersmith fighter is now intent on securing a world title shot, and even admitted that he could meet 'The Cobra' later down the line.

"I am taking my own steps to fighting for a world title," Groves told skysports.com. "This a big fight and also, I am fighting as the chief on the undercard for a huge fight for Britain, so it should be great and I might well be fighting the winner of Froch/Kessler down the line.

"The one thing I want more than anything right now is a huge fight, a world title fight and there are plenty of world champions out there, so whichever comes my way will do."

Groves left Frank Warren to sign for rival promoter Eddie Hearn's Matchroom stable in March, before making light work of Baker Barakat in his last outing on the undercard of Robert Stieglitz and Arthur Abraham in Germany.

And Groves now believes that both he and upcoming opponent Alcoba are on a similar track to challenge for a world title.

"He [Alcoba] looks like a very good fighter," Groves added. "He's got a good record and he can whack, against good opposition and he is trying to map out his way to a world title as well. This looks like a good match and I imagine it will become some sort of eliminator for both of us."
