James DeGale has been handed a late replacement in the shape of Alexander Brand when he heads back into the ring on March 23.

DeGale had been scheduled to fight Pablo Oscar Natalio Farias but the WBC Silver super-middleweight bout was scrapped.

Instead, the Brit will meet Brand, ranked 10th by the WBC. He turned pro in 2009, boasting a 19-1 record, and has huge experience as an amateur.

"Brand is a world class fighter that not only had a brilliant amateur career but also he holds a professional record of 19-1," DeGale said.

"But that could have been 20-0 as his only loss was a split decision over eight rounds and I know the feeling losing on a split decision.

"Once I've got past this Colombian puncher who has 15 knockouts in his 20 fights, I will be sitting down with my promoter Mick Hennessy and looking to the big fights later this year maybe against the winner of [Mikkel] Kessler v [Carl] Froch or a rematch against [George] Groves before going after Andre Ward."
