Phil Taylor is gunning for a 17th World Championship crown, but the likes of Michael van Gerwen and Adrian Lewis will be out to deny him success at the Alexandra Palace.
Taylor defeated Van Gerwen to win the title in January, and 'The Power' has been in a league of his own in 2013, winning five of the last six TV majors.
However, Van Gerwen got the better of Taylor recently in a pulsating final at the Players Championship Finals as the Dutchman stormed to the win, and you can get odds of 7/2 at bet365 for Van Gerwen to be crowned world champion for the first time.
Lewis won back-to-back crowns at the Ally Pally in 2011 and 2012, and the reigning European champion has come back to form. The venue brings the best out of 'Jackpot', and at 11/2 he is certainly worth taking a gamble on.
Taylor is the favourite at 4/5, but if you fancy an outsider to do some damage at the event, then perhaps James Wade, who has reached the semi-finals three times, at 28/1 is worth a pound or two. Five-time world champion Raymond van Barneveld is also available at the same price.
