There's been nothing to split the big three in the betting markets over the last few weeks but transfers - or perhaps the lack of them - have caused a few movements and on the eve of the season it's Manchester City who are favourites at 21/10 ahead of Chelsea (11/5)
The backing for defending champions Manchester United has fallen away markedly, perhaps because of the lack of signings and the likely departure of Wayne Rooney, and they have slipped to 3/1. To the surprise of nobody other than Arsenal fans, Arsenal are 10/1 and Liverpool a distant 25/1.
At the other end Crystal Palace are 4/9 to go back from where they came, Hull City, or whatever their Egyptian owners decide they ought to be called this week, 8/13 and Cardiff 7/4.
The interest is who punters think is the most likely to be down there in the mix come the end of the campaign, and Norwich and Stoke are both 3/1 to be relegated with Sunderland 9/2.
