Hamilton not backing off in 'game of chess' with Vettel
He might well be at "check" in his chess match with Sebastian Vettel, but Lewis Hamilton insists he will battle for the win as normal after beating the Ferrari driver to pole for the U.S. Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton taking pole has been a safe bet since the weekend's action started on Friday. He will be joined on the front row by Sebastian Vettel, the only man who can beat him to this year's title, but the German's recent misfortune means the championship fight is lacking the sting of previous rounds. Hamilton and Mercedes have looked strong all weekend so (barring some more drama in the title fight) challenging the No.44 car over race distance might be a big ask for Vettel, but at least he is well placed to ensure the fight goes on for another weekend.
